As holiday music spills from the speakers, and warm coats are taken from the closet, one tasty drink is on our mind: hot cocoa! It’s rich, creamy, and soothes chilled bones coming from the low temperatures outside.
While grabbing a tub of instant hot cocoa mix may be convenient, have you ever looked at the ingredients inside? You’ll see things like corn syrup, dairy product solids and artificial flavors. Who knew?! You’re in luck because we’ve found a way to use four ingredients to not only simplify your hot cocoa recipe but will make it much healthier too!
1 cup + 1-2 Tbs — Milk
2 tsp — Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1 tsp — Sweetener of Choice
1/4 tsp — Vanilla Extract
(optional dash of cinnamon)
1. Warm 1 cup of milk in a small pot over medium-low heat
2. Mix cocoa powder, sweetener, and leftover Tbs. of milk in a bowl
3. Whisk until powder is absorbed
4. Whisk cocoa mix and milk mix together and heat until hot ( don’t boil! )
5. Stir in vanilla extract
6. Serve and enjoy!
Throw on your most comfy pair of PJs and fuzzy socks and enjoy a warm cup of cocoa with friends and family. Cheers!
