Extinguish Your Heartburn


About 20% of Americans experience heartburn symptoms at least once a week! Heartburn is no fun, so we’ve compiled a list of reasons of why you may get heartburn, how to stop them, and how to never get it again!

What exactly is Heartburn?
Heartburn is that painful, burning feeling just below or behind the breastbone. Heartburn is caused when acid splashes up and out of the stomach (gross, we know–but that’s why were here to help!)

What can trigger it?
Heartburn can be triggered by many different reasons like medications, obesity, stress and even exercise. Foods can be a huge factor to heartburn as well, here’s a list of foods that can cause it:

3. Garlic and Onion
4. Spicy Food
5. Peppermint
6. Alcohol
7. Cheese, Nuts and Avocados
8. Caffeine
9. Chocolate
10. Carbonated Beverages
11. Large meals and fatty foods

Do you find a link between these foods and your heartburn? Be aware of what you eat and how it makes you feel, keep a food diary to track your symptoms. Or maybe you started getting heartburn after beginning a new medication? If you’re having heartburn problems often try to figure out what you’re doing or eating differently and also how you’re feeling emotionally (it could be stress related).
