Applesauce and plain yogurt are awesome replacements for butter. For the best texture and flavor, replace no more than half the amount of the fat listed in the recipe. For ½ cup butter, use ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce and save 44 grams of fat AND 400 calories!
For carrot, banana or spice cakes, try substituting an equal amount of Mashed Ripe Bananas for your butter! (Don’t use this in your chocolate or vanilla baked goods unless you want that banana flavor, though!)
Trade 1 whole egg for 2 egg whites and save more than 10 grams of fat AND 100 calories!
